Personal Oath

I will preserve the purity of my life and my arts and will fulfill the following according to my best ability and judgment.

First, I will prescribe regimens for the good of my patients and never do harm. I will avoid violating the morals of my community and never to do deliberate harm to anyone for anyone else's interest.

I do hereby affirm my loyalty to the profession I have entered. I will be ever vigilant in not engaging in those practices which will in any way bring shame or discredit upon myself or my profession. To perform faithfully my professional duties, to employ only those recognized methods of treatment consistent with good judgment and with my skill and ability, keeping in mind always nature's laws and the body's inherent capacity for recovery.

I will look with respect and esteem upon all those who have taught me my arts. To my colleges I will be loyal and strive always for their best interests and for the interests of the students who will come after me. I will endeavor to work in accord with my colleagues in a spirit of progressive cooperation and never by word or by act cast imputations upon them or their rightful practices.

I will appreciate my limits as a human being and a physician and to keep the good of the patient as the highest priority, I will avoid attempting to do things that other specialists can do better.

I will practice only for the good of my patients, keeping myself far from all intentional ill-doing and remaining free of all intentional injustice and mischief and avoid inappropriate entanglements with patients and their families.

I will be mindful always of my great responsibility to my patients, to retain their confidence and respect as a physician who will guard their secrets with scrupulous honor and fidelity. What I may see or hear in the course of the treatment or even outside of the treatment in regard to the life of my patients, which on no account one must spread abroad, I will keep to myself, holding such things shameful to be spoken about.

I will be ever alert to further my knowledge and experience and the application of basic biologic truth to the healing arts.

I will be considerate to the social and cultural differences of my patients and will prescribe a regimen after educating them to the fullest and will honor their decision regarding their care.
